1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon pepper
4 cups cooked green beans
1 1/3 cups French fried onions

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients. Preheat the oven to 350 F/177 C/Gas 4.
  • Mix the soup, milk, and pepper in a buttered 1 1/2 to 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Add the green beans and 2/3 cup of the French-fried onions.
  • Stir the mixture together.
  • Bake the casserole for about 25 minutes or until bubbly around the edges.
  • Top with the remaining 2/3 cup of fried onions and bake about 5 more minutes or until the onions are lightly browned. Serve and enjoy!

8 cups cut fresh green beans (about 2 pounds)
1/2 pound sliced fresh mushrooms
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup fat-free milk
1 cup reduced-fat sour cream
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1-1/2 cups shredded reduced-fat Swiss cheese
TOPPING:
1/3 cup slivered almonds
1/3 cup crushed cornflakes
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • Place beans in a Dutch oven and cover with water; bring to a boil. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes or until crisp-tender; drain and set aside., Preheat oven to 400°. In a large skillet, saute mushrooms in butter until tender. Stir in flour, onion and pepper until blended. Gradually stir in milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in sour cream and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in beans and cheese until blended., Transfer to an 11x7-in. baking dish coated with cooking spray (dish will be full). Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over the top. , Bake, uncovered, 12-16 minutes or until bubbly and heated through.

A make-ahead green bean casserole that does not include cream of mushroom soup or french-fried onions! This is a nice break from the norm, and whenever I serve it people really enjoy it. It has a little zip and is lighter on the palate while being quite satisfying. If you're making it for more than 4 or 5 people, see my note before cooking.

nonstick cooking spray
2 (10 ounce) packages frozen French-cut green beans, thawed
2 tablespoons light butter
⅓ cup onion, chopped
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup light sour cream
1 cup shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Spray a shallow 1 1/2-quart casserole dish with nonstick spray.
  • Place beans in a large pot and halfway cover with salted water; bring to a boil. Cook until tender, 4 to 6 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  • Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until tender, 5 to 7 minutes. Blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Stir in sour cream, stirring constantly, cooking until smooth and thickened. Mix in cooked beans, then pour into the prepared casserole. Cover and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Remove casserole from the refrigerator and sprinkle Cheddar cheese over top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until bubbly, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm.

1 (10 ounce) can campbell's Healthy Request cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup mayonnaise (or 1/4 cup of each) or 1/2 cup sour cream (or 1/4 cup of each)
1 tablespoon reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon finely minced fresh lemon peel
1/3 cup minced fresh parsley
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
3 dashes fresh coarse ground black pepper or 3 dashes lemon pepper

Steps:

This recipe is one of my mother's regular holiday offerings (Thanksgiving and Christmas). It's suprisingly easy. And it's a good way to get kids to eat cottage cheese. (I personally don't like cottage cheese by itself, but it really makes this dish.)

1 large onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1/4 cup cheddar cheese
1 cup breadcrumbs
3 -4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 (15 ounce) can green beans, French style

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • Saute onion & garlic in butter until soft and glossy.
  • Add the cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, and bread crumbs.
  • Add the eggs and beans.
  • Pour the beans mixture into a greased casserole dish.
  • Bake at 350 F for 30-45 minutes.
  • When done, casserole should be firm to the touch and lightly browned on top.

2022-06-26 Instructions. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 1.5 quart or larger casserole with non-stick spray. Mix the soup, milk, Worcestershire Sauce and pepper together in a bowl. Put the beans and 1 cup of the French Fried Onions in the casserole dish. Add the soup mix, and thoroughly combine all of the ingredients.
