HOT ELVIS TOASTIE



Hot Elvis toastie image

Pay homage to The King with this indulgent peanut butter and banana toasted sandwich. Serve with ice cream for brunch or dessert

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 tsp butter
2 slices white bread
1 tbsp golden caster sugar
½ tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp crunchy peanut butter
1 ripe banana , thinly sliced
2 tsp clear honey
a little icing sugar
vanilla ice cream , to serve

Steps:

  • Using 1 tsp soft butter per side, butter one side only of two bread slices. Mix sugar with cinnamon, then sprinkle over the buttered slices of bread.
  • Put one of the slices, buttered-side down, in a toasted sandwich maker. Spread the top of this slice with peanut butter, then layer over the banana. Drizzle with honey, and sandwich the second slice of bread on top, buttered-side up. Close and cook, following your sandwich maker instructions, until the toastie is crisp and golden.
  • Cut in half, add a slice to each plate, dust with icing sugar and serve with vanilla ice cream.

This sandwich may sound unappealing, but it's actually very tasty, especially on cold winter days! Legend has it that this was a favorite of The King.

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 tablespoons peanut butter
2 slices white bread
1 banana, peeled and sliced
3 slices cooked bacon
1 ½ teaspoons butter

Steps:

  • Spread the peanut butter on one side of one slice of bread. Top with sliced banana, then slices of cooked bacon. Cover with the other slice of bread. Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Fry the sandwich on each side until golden brown and peanut butter is melted, about 4 minutes total.
