A fun, 5-layer dip with chips. Try out this recipe, featuring refried beans, avocado, yogurt, cheese, and salsa.

Number Of Ingredients 10

¾ pound Beans, refried ((12 ounces))
2 pounds Avocado, fresh, mashed
3⅛ quarts Yogurt, Dannon Greek Oikos, plain, nonfat ((3 quarts, ½ cup))
¼ cup Chili powder
¼ cup Cumin, ground
⅛ cup Oregano, leaves
¼ cup Garlic Powder
2 pounds Cheese, shredded
14 ounces Salsa
3½ pounds Tortilla chips, whole grain

Steps:

  • With a large mixer or in a bowl, mash avocado.
  • In another large bowl, mix yogurt, chili powder, cumin and oregano.
  • Lay out containers and all ingredients that are needed to prepare individual 5 Layer Dip at station.
  • First Layer: 1/8 cup refried beans. Second Layer: 1/8 cup avocado. Third layer: 1-ounce Spiced Greek Yogurt mixture. Fourth Layer: 1/4 cup Salsa. Fifth Layer: 0.5 ounces Cheese.
  • CCP: Hold cold, below 41 degrees.
  • Serve each dip with 1 ounce of tortilla chips.

2 cups Greek yogurt
1/3 cup diced orange bell pepper
1/2 cup diced, seeded cherry tomatoes
2 tablespoons chopped jarred jalapeños or green chiles
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon chipotle powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder or onion salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
Sea salt and pepper, to taste
For topping: pico de gallo, jalapeños, cilantro, and cherry tomatoes

Steps:

  • Stir the Greek yogurt with the fresh cilantro, garlic powder, chipotle powder, onion powder, cumin, sea salt, and pepper until well-combined.
  • Gently stir in the bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, and cheddar cheese.
  • Cover and refrigerate the dip for one hour.
  • Put the dip into a serving bowl and top with pico de gallo, jalapeños, cherry tomatoes, and more cilantro. Serve with Mission Organics® Yellow Corn Tortilla Chips, and enjoy!

This is a low-fat, high-nutrient version of a layer dip that I invented! It goes great with Wheat Thins!

Number Of Ingredients 10

16 oz 0% Plain Chobani Greek Yogurt
1 bell pepper
2 jalapenos
1/4 of a large onion
4 tbs taco seasoning (I actually used Tastefully Simple Hoppin' Jalapeno Bacon seasoning, but taco seasoning would work as well!)
1 cup diced tomatoes
1 15oz. can black beans
1 15oz. can corn
2 tbs fresh cilantro
1 tsp lime juice

Steps:

  • Mix taco dip (or other dip mix of your choice) into plain greek yogurt. Let it sit in the fridge for at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight for full flavor.
  • Chop tomatoes and remove extra juices by wrapping with paper towels.
  • Drain corn. Rinse black beans.
  • Chop bell pepper, jalapenos, and onion. Pour 1 tsp of lime juice over the chopped vegetables. May sprinkle on some salt and pepper to taste.
  • Layer all ingredients in a pan (a clear baking pan allows you to see the colorful layers!)
  • Mince cilantro and sprinkle on top of the layer dip.

This is like the classic Mexican 7-layer dip, only in a Mediterranean way! I sometimes make this and leave the meat out - it is still good and vegetarian thataway! Serve with fresh-baked pita chips. I estimated amounts, use more or less to your taste. Serving size is approximate too.

2 cups hummus
1/2 lb ground lamb
1/2 cup finely chopped red onion
1/2 cup chopped seeded cucumber
1/2 cup chopped seeded tomatoes
1 cup tzatziki (Greek yogurt dip)
1/4 cup chopped kalamata olive
1/4 teaspoon of fresh mint, finely chopped

Steps:

  • Spread hummus on platter. I usually use a pretty garlicky kind, stir in some olive oil and lemon zest, a little cayenne.
  • Brown lamb - can use beef or turkey- in skillet with garlic and some oregano and marjoram. Drain well. I usually brown my meet, drain and rinse it with boiling water and then add some spices. Layer meat on top of hummus.
  • Layer onion, cucumbers, tomatoes and tzaziki (greek yogurt dip). The amounts I gave are approximate, use more or less to your preference.
  • Scatter olives and mint over top. Serve with fresh-baked pita chips and watch it dissappear!

This recipe was given to me by my sister-in-law and always goes fast! Cream cheese at the base of the dip makes it extra thick and scoopable. Seasoned beef and vegetables make it extra filling and tasty! You may want to prepare two batches. Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy.
