Mom Johnsons Spritz Cookies Recipes

MY MOM'S SPRITZ COOKIES

Steps:

• Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper.
• Combine butter and sugar in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer until creamy. Add egg yolks and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined. Beat in flour and baking powder. Use your hands to finish mixing if dough does not come together.
• Add dough to a cookie press and press spritz-shaped cookies onto the prepared baking sheets.
• Bake in the preheated oven until cookies are lightly browned, 9 to 11 minutes. Cool on the baking sheets for 2 minutes. Carefully transfer to a wire rack and cook completely.

MOM JOHNSON'S SPRITZ COOKIES

Steps:

• Mix sugar and butter together. Add egg and beat well. Mix flour with salt. Add to mixture. Add the almond flavoring, mix until smooth. Cover and place in refrigerator, if too soft. Fill a small amount in cookie press. With the small star, make S, O, candy cane, or christmas trees. Place colored sugar on cookie. Make O's look like wreaths by adding green sugar and a small amount of red for bow. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly golden. approx. 8-10 min.

MOM T'S SPRITZ COOKIES

Steps:

• Mix all ingredients except confectioners sugar and chill in refrigerator until firm.
• Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
• Using a cookie press make cookies the shape you desire.
• Bake 12-15 minutes.
• Dust warm cookies with confectioners sugar and let cool completely.

COCOA SPRITZ COOKIES

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 375.
• Cream together butter with both sugars.
• Add eggs, beating well after each addition.
• Add vanilla.
• Sift together flour, cocoa, salt, and baking soda.
• Gradually add dry mixture into wet mixture and beat well, dough will be stiff.
• Assemble cookie press and fill with dough, using desired disc.
• At this point, you can chill the dough in the press if it doesn't seem firm enough.
• Press cookies onto ungreased cookie sheet.
• Bake 12-15 minutes until slightly golden.
• Note:If you aren't experienced with a cookie press, it make take a few trial and errors, make sure to use an ungreased cookie sheet, the cookies need to"grab" onto the sheet, if necessary, spray the outer side of the disc with vegetable oil to make the cookie release more easily.
