MOM'S EASY CHEESY TATER TOT CASSEROLE

This tasty potato casserole is one of those 'take me back to my childhood' meals. It's easy, inexpensive, and tastes like comfort and all things yummy. Best of all, it's kid approved!

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb ground beef
1 bag - 32oz - tater tot bites
1 block full fat cream cheese
2 cans cream of celery soup
1 cup milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 tbsp minced dried onions
1/2 tsp salt
1 + 1/4 tsp ground black pepper separated
2 tbsp ranch dressing mix
1 tbsp seasoning salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Spray 9×13 casserole dish with non-stick spray. Set aside.
  • In saucepan, combine the cream cheese, soup, and milk. Warm over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
  • In skillet, combine the beef, minced onions, salt, and 1/4 tsp of pepper. Brown on high heat until there is no pink.
  • Spread the beef evenly in the bottom of the casserole dish.
  • Spread the tater tots over the beef layer. Try to eliminate as many 'bump' as possible.
  • Sprinkle the ranch dressing mix, seasoning salt, and remainder of the pepper evenly over the tater tots.
  • When the cream mixture is smooth, slowly poor it over the casserole. Use a spatulate to cover as many tots as possible. Jiggle the dish to make sure the mixture has made it to the beef layer. You can refrigerate at this stage. Cover the dish completely with foil and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Remove from refrigerator for at least 15 minutes before putting into warm oven.
  • Place on a rack in the middle of your oven.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Add an additional 20 minutes if chilled. The internal temperature should reach at least 165f for the casserole to be done.
  • After baking time, remove from oven and sprinkle cheese over the top. Return to over for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve and enjoy!

Moms 4-Ingredient Tater Tot Casserole is made with ground beef, condensed soups and tater tots for a really simple, family-friendly recipe that is both comforting and delicious.

1.5-2 pounds ground beef (85/15)
1 pound tater tots, frozen
1 can cream of mushroom condensed soup
1 can cream of chicken condensed soup
pepper
parsley garnish (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 2. In a medium casserole dish (I use 33 x 25), press the ground beef into bottom. 3. Pepper the top. 4. Wash hands well after handling meat or use gloves. 5. Line a layer of tater tots over top. 6. In a small bowl, stir the cream of chicken and cream of mushroom together and pour over top of tater tots. 7. Pepper the top. 8. Cover and bake for 30 minutes. 9. Remove cover and bake another 15 minutes. 10. Serve.

1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
1 cup celery, diced
1 small onion, diced (optional)
1 lb ground beef
1 (32 ounce) package frozen tater tots
1 (10 1/2 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken soup)
3/4 cup milk
salt & pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In medium skillet over medium heat, sauté celery and onion in butter.
  • Pour into large bowl and set aside (do not add to casserole dish yet).
  • In skillet, brown the beef.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste (I sometimes add a dash of garlic salt).
  • Combine meat with celery and onion mixture.
  • Place 1 layer of Tater Tots in the bottom of a round casserole dish.
  • Top with meat mixture.
  • Add another layer of Tater Tots on top of the meat.
  • In separate bowl, combine soup and milk.
  • Pour soup mixture evenly over top of casserole.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour.
  • Cover with foil if Tater Tots get too brown.

1 pound ground beef

½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
½ cup milk
½ cup grated Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Prepare a 13x9-inch casserole dish with cooking spray.
  • Spread 20 potato nuggets in the casserole dish.
  • Bake in preheated oven until warmed through, about 10 minutes.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir beef and onion in the hot skillet until beef is completely browned, 5 to 7 minutes; drain and discard grease. Season beef mixture with 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  • Stir cream of mushroom soup, milk, 1/2 cup Cheddar cheese, and 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce together in a bowl.
  • Smash the warmed potato nuggets in the casserole dish to cover the bottom completely. Spread ground beef mixture over the mashed potato nuggets. Pour soup mixture evenly over the beef layer. Top with remaining potato nuggets and sprinkle 1 cup Cheddar cheese evenly over the nuggets.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Cook and stir ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink and completely browned, 7 to 10 minutes; season with salt and black pepper. My son's friends would call me to ask when I was making this so they could drop by for a visit. Now they are all in college, and when they're home, I still get requests for this "man meal".

Steps:

  • In a skillet, brown hamburger and onions. Drain and season with salt, pepper and Tony Chachere's (Cajun seasoning).
  • Place tator tots in prepared 9 x 13 pyrex dish.
  • Sprinkle hamburger and onions over tator tots.
  • In a bowl, mix togethers soups. (you may add a little milk to thin this if desired) Spread over hamburger.
