MULLED POMEGRANATE SIPPER

- In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the first 5 ingredients. Place cinnamon sticks, cloves and orange zest on a double thickness of cheesecloth. Gather up corners of cloth to enclose seasonings; tie securely with string. Add to slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 1-2 hours or until heated through. Discard spice bag.

Steps:
- Wrap the cloves, star anise and cinnamon in a small square of cheesecloth and secure it with kitchen twine.
- Combine the wine, sugar if using, orange zest, orange juice, rosemary and the spice pouch in a slow cooker. Cook on low heat until hot, about 1 hour. Adjust the slow cooker to the "warm" setting. Serve in mugs with a rosemary sprig as garnish.

- Put all the ingredients (except the slices of orange) in a slow cooker on low for 1 1/2 - 2hrs until hot. Ladle into heatproof glasses and serve with slices of orange. Using the 'keep warm' setting (if your cooker has one) will ensure the mulled wine stays hot during the party.
