PEANUT BUTTER PINWHEEL CANDY

Peanut Butter Pinwheel Candy image

Peanut Butter Pinwheel Candies are made with an unexpected but essential ingredient. This is a family favorite recipe that's been passed down for generations!

Provided by Samantha Merritt

Categories     Dessert     Snack

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 cup mashed potatoes*
1/2 cup salted butter softened
6-7 cups powdered sugar (plus additional for dusting)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Creamy peanut butter (for filling)

Steps:

  • With electric mixer, combine mashed potatoes, butter, and 1 cup sugar.
  • Add in remaining sugar, 1 cup at a time. Start by adding 6 cups of powdered sugar, if the dough is not moldable in your hands and can't be rolled into a ball, continue to add sugar until it is firm.
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Refrigerate filling for 1 hour.
  • Once chilled, divide dough into two pieces and place one piece on a clean surface that you've generously dusted with powdered sugar. Dust the surface of the dough with additional sugar, and use a rolling pin to roll dough out into a rectangle about 1/4" thick. Make sure that your dough can be rolled at this point, if it's too sticky or falling apart, you may need to add more sugar, re-shape it into a ball, and start over.
  • Once dough has been rolled into a 1/4" rectangle, spread evenly with peanut butter, leaving a small amount of space peanut butter-free around the perimeter of the dough.
  • Starting with the longer side of your rectangle, gently but tightly roll into a lot.
  • Use a knife to slice into pieces about 1/2" thick.
  • Repeat steps 5-8 with remaining half of dough.
  • Serve and enjoy.

PEANUT BUTTER DIVINITY ROLL

Peanut Butter Divinity Roll image

Loved these as a kid. Mom called them pinwheels. She stopped making them, lost the recipe I guess. So it took a while for me to get it right.

Provided by LUNAWOLVIN

Categories     Desserts     Candy Recipes     Divinity Recipes

Time 35m

Yield 40

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 ½ cups white sugar
⅔ cup light corn syrup
⅓ cup water
2 egg whites
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar, or as needed
½ cup peanut butter, or as needed

Steps:

  • Mix sugar, corn syrup, and water together in a deep pan; bring to a boil. Heat to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C), or until a small amount of syrup dropped into cold water forms a rigid ball (hard ball stage), about 15 minutes.
  • Beat egg whites in a glass or metal bowl until stiff peaks form. Lift your beater or whisk straight up: the egg whites will form sharp peaks.
  • Slowly pour sugar mixture over egg whites while beating with an electric mixer. Beat until candy clings to a spoon and loses some of its shine. Spread candy mixture onto a sheet of waxed paper; sprinkle with confectioners' sugar. Generously spread peanut butter over candy mixture. Roll candy into one large roll; cut into 2 rolls. Slice each roll into desired pieces.

Time 4h45m

Yield 96

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 tablespoons water
1 egg
1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ sugar cookie mix
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
1 egg

Steps:

PEANUT BUTTER PINWHEELS

Peanut Butter Pinwheels image

This is a very simple, and very yummy sweet treat. My husband remembered having these as a child, but we could not find the recipe. I finally found it. Hope you enjoy!

Provided by jecooks

Categories     Candy

Time 20m

Yield 2 logs, 12-16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 (16 ounce) box powdered sugar
1 -2 cup powdered sugar (more or less to keep dough from sticking to paper)
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
8 ounces peanut butter

Steps:

  • In mixing bowl, combine 16 oz sugar, butter, milk, and vanilla (should be stiff and dough-like).
  • Chill for a few minutes to help prevent sticking.
  • Divide dough into 2 balls, and roll each ball out to pie crust thickness (Use parchment or wax paper and plenty of powdered sugar both over and under dough to keep it from sticking).
  • Heat peanut butter until runny and easily spreadable- not too hot- and spread evenly over rolled dough.
  • Roll dough into a log (you may have to sprinkle a little more powdered sugar on it as you go to help with stickiness).
  • Chill 1 hour and slice into 1/4" pinwheels- keep refrigerated.

GRANDMA'S PINWHEEL CANDY

Grandma's Pinwheel Candy image

This is potatoe candy without the potatoes. This was my Dad's favorite during the Christmas holidays. Sweet and yummy!

Provided by Mayniac May Family

Categories     Candy

Time 30m

Yield 1 roll

Number Of Ingredients 6

1/2 cup butter (I use blue bonnet, not all butter will set up)
1 lb confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Karo syrup
2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
4 cups peanut butter (more or less depending on your taste)

Steps:

  • Mix all but peanut butter together.
  • (add more milk/ or sugar if you need. Should be like a doughy ball, but not real sticky).
  • On wax paper, sprinkle some of the sugar on it to help if from sticking, and roll out mixture. Make it as square as possible.( I roll mine out sort thin, but again this depends on your preference).
  • Smooth on peanut butter to desired thickness.
  • Start on oneside, and begin rolling it up. (It will look like a large log) Put sugar on your hands and keep putting on 'log' as you roll it up to help make it easier.
  • Take the 'log', and roll it up in wax paper, and then a kitchen hand towel (to help keep shape) and chill in the fridge (or freezer if you are in a hurry)The colder- the easier to slice.
  • Once cold, slice as desired thickness.
  • (put wax paper in between layers when stacking so the pieces don't stick together).
  • Keep refridgerated until time to serve.

PINWHEEL PEANUT BUTTER CANDY

Pinwheel Peanut Butter Candy image

My great aunt used to make this years ago and I remember eating it as a child and thinking that it was the most heavenly stuff ever! After trying several different recipes (many of them requiring that the outer part be a divinity), I think I finally found a recipe that tastes the same, but it is MUCH easier and much less messy!

Provided by Vanessa Robertson @vcrobertson

Categories     Candies

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 pound(s) powdered sugar
6 tablespoon(s) melted butter
1 tablespoon(s) vanilla
1/2 cup(s) milk
- peanut butter

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together (except for the peanut butter). The consistency should be that of a pie dough. Update: I've seen some recipes call for a lot less milk, so add just a little milk and keep adding until the consistence is like pie dough. Separate the dough into four parts.
  • Cover your pastry board with a small amount of powdered sugar to help with rolling the dough. Roll the dough out like a pie crust. I roll mine into a rectangle. Do not roll out too thin.
  • Spread as much peanut butter out onto the flattened dough as you want (I just use enough to cover it thoroughly). Then roll the dough up like you would a jelly roll. Refrigerate and then cut into slices. ENJOY!
