RED WHITE AND BLUE POPCORN



Red White and Blue Popcorn image

Red white and blue popcorn recipe is a perfect Memorial Day side dish or 4th of July dessert too. Chocolate popcorn with patriotic colors.

Number Of Ingredients 3

6 c popcorn (popped)
1 c candy melts (Wilton, melted, 1/2 c blue and 1/2 c red)
1/4 c sprinkles (or red white and blue M&Ms)

Steps:

  • Once you've popped your popcorn lay it on a cookie sheet with waxed or parchment paper on top. We like air popped popcorn but microwave kettle corn works too. Put candy melts in a bowl and melt in microwave in 30 second intervals stirring in between times until smooth.
  • When cooled drizzle the melted blue chocolate on to the popcorn. Add a bit of salt now if you want it salty and sweet and not just sweet. Before the chocolate sets add your sprinkles and/or M&Ms to the top so they stick.
  • Allow this to sit and cool/harden before putting into a container or setting out. Just break apart to enjoy.

  • Microwave the red candy for 40 seconds then stir, repeat in 20 second intervals until melted and smooth. (takes 1-1 1/2 minutes dependent on melt brand and your microwave).
  • Drizzle over of the popcorn in one of the bowls and toss to coat (use a silicone spatula to ensure you get all the candy all out.) Toss the popcorn with your hands until nicely coated.
