This recipe is the best when made using farmer's sausage, but any sausage links will do. Add the red pepper flakes at the end for a little kick, or leave them out if spice isn't for you.

2 ½ cups dry penne pasta
4 ½ teaspoons coconut oil
1 pound smoked sausage (such as farmer's sausage), sliced
1 onion, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 red bell pepper, sliced
1 orange bell pepper, sliced
1 (8 ounce) package mushrooms, sliced
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil; add penne and cook, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 11 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat, and cook and stir sausage, onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, orange bell pepper, and mushrooms until vegetables are tender, about 10 minutes.
  • Stir diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, minced garlic, garlic powder, oregano, basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes into vegetable mixture; bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes.
  • Drain pasta and spoon onto plates and top with sauce mixture.

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables
1/2 pound smoked turkey sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices

  • Cook pasta in a large saucepan according to package directions, adding the vegetables during the last 6 minutes of cooking., Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, brown sausage; remove from skillet and keep warm. , In a small bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, mustard and pepper flakes; gradually whisk in milk until smooth. 1 (16 ounce) package Jimmy Dean® Premium Pork Regular Sausage
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
4 ounces garden vegetable cream cheese, softened
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
¼ cup finely chopped red bell pepper
¼ cup finely chopped green onion
2 (8 ounce) packages crescent roll sheets

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Add sausage to a frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook and stir with a spatula, breaking apart the sausage until cooked, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and let cool.
  • Combine regular and vegetable cream cheese, Cheddar cheese, bell pepper, green onion, and cooled, crumbled sausage in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  • Unroll 1 crescent dough sheet and press into a 9x12-inch rectangle. Cut 6 rows across and 4 rows vertically to yield 24 squares. Repeat with the second package of dough.
  • Place 1 square in each cup of two nonstick 24-cup mini muffin tins, pressing it into the bottom and up the sides.
  • Drop 1 heaping teaspoon of sausage filling into each cup. Filling should be up to the top of the cup, but you do not need to press it down.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the dough is golden brown, 11 to 13 minutes.
  • Cool for 5 minutes in the tins before removing to a platter.

2 tablespoons olive oil
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 lb sweet ground sausage (i use jimmy dean's maple)
1 lb spinach
1 cup crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup dry white wine
3/4 cup sun-dried tomato packed in oil
1 tablespoon fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
salt and pepper
parmesan cheese, on top

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to directions on box.
  • Cook oil and garlic until browned. Add sausage, brown, push to side of pan. Add spinach, cook until wilted. Add remaining ingredients and saute (about 15 minutes).
  • Serve topped w/ parmesan cheese.

1/2 pound smoked kielbasa or Polish sausage, cut into 1/2-inch slices
3 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, cut into small wedges
1 cup water
1 package (1.2 ounces) herb and garlic soup mix
1/8 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
Hot cooked rice

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown sausage in oil over medium-high heat. Remove with a slotted spoon and keep warm. In the drippings, saute peppers and onion until crisp-tender., In a large bowl, combine the water and contents of one soup mix envelope (save the second envelope for another use). Add soup mixture, hot pepper sauce and sausage to the vegetables. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened. Serve with rice.

Try this recipe if you're looking for something quick and easy with great flavor. The pasta cooks right in the skillet so there's no need for extra pots. Don't make this without the sun-dried tomatoes because it will not have as much flavor. My husband recently told me that this is his favorite of the pasta dishes I cook. Recipe is from America's Test Kitchen.

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, minced
salt
1 lb sweet Italian turkey sausage or 1 lb hot Italian turkey sausage, casings removed
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 cup sun-dried tomato packed in oil, rinsed and chopped fine
8 ounces penne (about 2 1/2 cups, can also use ziti)
2 cups low sodium chicken broth
1 cup milk
1 (5 ounce) bag Baby Spinach
1 ounce parmesan cheese, grated or 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a 12-inch nonstick skillet over medium heat until shimmering. (Be sure to use at least a 12-inch size skillet to hold all ingredients.) Add the onion and 1/2 teaspoon salt and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 4 minutes.
  • Stir in the garlic and cook until fragrant, about 15 seconds. Sprinkle the sun-dried tomatoes and penne evenly over the sausage. Pour the broth and milk over the pasta. Cover and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to medium-low and continue to simmer, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender, about 10 minutes.
  • Stir in the spinach a handful at a time and cook until wilted, about 2 minutes. (It may seem like a lot of spinach, but it will wilt considerably.) Stir in the Parmesan and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Note: You can use Italian pork sausage, but you may have to spoon some of the fat off before adding the pasta.

1 onion
15 mushrooms, sliced
cherry tomato, handful
1 green pepper, diced
2 green chiles, chopped
2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
6 sausages, sliced in circles and cooked well
1 cup marinara sauce
2 cups cream
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon red chili powder
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese, grated

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to package directions and set aside.
  • In a separate pan, dice your onions and saute til golden-brown. To this, add garlic cloves, cherry tomatoes, green peppers and mushrooms, and allow to braise together for 10-15 min on medium heat.
  • Add salt, green chilis, pepper and crushed red chili's. Mix well.
  • Then, add tomato pasta sauce and fresh cream and simmer on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Once combined, add cooked sausages and cook for another 5 minutes.
  • To the pan, add cooked pasta inside, mix well, and add grated mozzarella.
  • Serve topped with grated Parmesan or a drizzle of olive oil, if desired.

4 cups tomato pasta sauce

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. Cook and drain pasta as directed on package, using minimum cook time.
  • Meanwhile, heat 10-inch nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add sausage; cook 7 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink. Drain.
