SLOW COOKER HAWAIIAN STYLE KALUA PORK
Slow Cooker Hawaiian Style Kalua Pork is a smoky, salty pulled pork that goes well with everything! Eat it plain, eat it in a sandwich, the choices are endless.

Steps:
- Using paper towel, pat dry the pork roast and place in the bottom of the slow cooker. If you have more fat on one side of the roast, place it FAT SIDE UP.
- Pierce the pork roast all over with a fork, piercing through any fat on the top as well.
- Pour the liquid smoke evenly over the roast.
- Sprinkle the salt over top of the roast in an even layer,
- Cover the slow cooker with tinfoil, then the lid and cook for 8-10 hours on low, or 6-7 hours on high.
- The pork is done when it shreds easily when pulled with two forks. Shred the pork INSIDE the slow cooker to add the moisture and fat back in, If you take it out and drain everything you are going to lose the flavour and the moistness.
- Serve with wraps and coleslaw, or in sandwiches or buns!

CROCK POT KALUA PORK
One of our favorite things at our local Hawaiian Mix Plate! Prep time includes the sitting overnight in the fridge. This definitely isn't a "quick" recipe but it is worth the wait.

Steps:
- Cut slits in pork and rub with salt, garlic & liquid smoke or soy sauce. Wrap in plastic and let in rest overnight in the fridge.
- 10-12 hours before serving, place in crockpot. Add an inch of water. Turn crockpot on low and leave it to cook for 10-12 hours, flipping pork over halfway through.
- Remove from the crockpot and shred with two forks.
- Eat as is or on a sandwich or even stir fried quickly with some shredded cabbage!

Steps:
- Season the pork shoulder with sea salt.
- Rub liquid smoke on the pork.
- Place banana peel on top of the pork. (banana peel replaces banana leaves for flavor).
- Transfer pork to solar cooking pot and place in solar cooker.
- Solar cook until it is completely cooked (about 4 hours).
- When pork is done, pull apart/shred.
- Serve with rice, stir-fried cabbage, and macaroni salad.
