HONEY OAT BEER BREAD



Honey Oat Beer Bread image

This beer bread variation is super easy and tasty. It has a great flavor from the honey and oats. So quick, too!

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ¼ cups rolled oats
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 (12 fluid ounce) bottle beer
¼ cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  • In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, oats, baking powder, salt and brown sugar. Drizzle honey over the dry ingredients, then pour the beer on top. Mix just until blended. Spoon into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown. A knife inserted into the top of the loaf should come out clean.

1 cup rolled oats
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon salt
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons baking powder
1/2 cup water
12 ounces room temperature beer
1/2 cup melted butter (for top)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Grease a 5x9 loaf pan.
  • Combine oats, flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, water and beer and put into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Generously brush top of loaf with melted butter, reserving some for a second brushing.
  • Return to oven and bake for 30-40 minutes more until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Remove from the oven and brush with reserved butter.
  • Serve warm.

This is my favorite way to make beer bread. I have increased the "health factor" with wheat flour, flax, oats and Splenda! Feel free to use 2T sugar in place of the splenda if you aren't a fan of the sweetener.

1 1/4 cups self rising flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 cup sunflower seeds
1 tablespoon flax seed
1 tablespoon flax seed meal
1 (12 ounce) bottle dark beer
1 tablespoon Splenda brown sugar blend (may sub 2T of Splenda)

Steps:

  • Place all flour, oats, seeds and sweetener in a large bowl and give it a stir or two.
  • Dump in the beer and stir only until just mixed. Do NOT overmix.
  • Pour into greased loaf pan; feel free to sprinkle some extra oats on top to make it look pretty.
  • Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour.

3 cups self-rising flour
3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1-1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
1 bottle (12 ounces) wheat beer
1/4 cup maple syrup
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, mix flour, oats and brown sugar. In another bowl, mix bananas, beer and maple syrup until blended. Add to flour mixture; stir just until moistened., Transfer to a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Drizzle with oil; sprinkle with sesame seeds and salt. Bake 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 10 minutes before removing to wire rack to cool., Freeze option: Securely wrap and freeze cooled loaf in foil and place in resealable plastic freezer bag. To use, thaw at room temperature.

2 packets of yeast or 4 1/2 teaspoons yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup honey
2 1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 cup milk, scalding hot
6 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups rolled oats

Steps:

  • Spray a large bowl with cooking spray and set aside. In a small bowl combine water and yeast - set aside. In a mixing bowl add butter, honey & salt. Pour hot milk on top and let it sit until butter is melted and mixture is luke-warm. Add 1 cup of flour and mix well. Add 2 cups of oats and mix. Pour yeast mixture into oat mixture and mix well. Add remaining flour one cup at a time until mixture comes away from the sides of the bowl. Once all flour is mixed in, continue mixing for 5 minutes to knead dough or knead by hand. Place dough into prepared mixing bowl, cover with saran wrap and set in a draft free place for 1 hour or until double in size. Punch dough down and let rest for 10 minutes. Divide dough into two pieces and shape them into loaves. Place loaves into bread pans sprayed well with cooking spray. Brush the top of each loaf with butter and sprinkle oatmeal on top. Cover loaves and allow to rise for 45 minutes. Bake at 375*F for 45 minutes. Allow loaves to cool for 10 minutes in pans then flip them onto a cooling rack. Devour immediately.
