Apple puree is a wonderful first food for baby. Use a sweeter variety of apple instead of a tart variety so that you don't need to add any sugar.

Ingredients

6 apples - peeled, cored and chopped

Steps:

Place apples in a large saucepan and just barely cover with water. Simmer over medium-low heat until apples are tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
Remove cooked apples with a slotted spoon and place in a food processor or blender; puree until smooth. Allow to cool before serving.

Ingredients

1 apple
1/4 cup ground oats
3/4 cup water

Steps:

Peel, core and cut a small apple into small dices.
Place in a pan with 1/4 c ground oats and 3/4 c water.
Bring mixture to a slow boil. Simmer covered, checking frequently, until apples are soft and oatmeal is cooked.
Be sure to stir and mash while cooking.
Mix in formula or breast milk or juice to thin if needed - puree if necessary.
(sprinkle a bit of cinnamon in the cereal if your desire and if baby is ready for or has had cinnamon.
