Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) baking dish with cooking spray. Reserve 1/2 cup French-fried onions for topping.
- In 4- to 5-quart saucepan, heat 6 cups water to boiling over medium-high heat. Add green beans. Cook 6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; drain, and place green beans back into pan; set aside.
- Meanwhile, in 3-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add flour and salt; stir with whisk or fork until blended. Gradually stir in broth and half-and-half; cook and stir 6 to 8 minutes or until smooth, bubbly and sauce thickens. Remove from heat. Add cream cheese and Cheddar cheese; stir until cheeses are melted. Stir in remaining French-fried onions and the ham.
- Pour cheese mixture over green beans; stir to coat. Spread mixture in baking dish. Top with reserved 1/2 cup French-fried onions.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

- Cook green beans. Drain and add to baking dish.
- Saute onions in butter. Add to baking dish.
- Add ham to baking dish and mix everything.
- Combine cream of chicken with water, sour cream, paprika, salt and pepper. Pour over all of the ingredients in dish. Mix.
- Add cheese.
- Cover dish with foil. Bake in preheated oven to 375°F for 15 minutes. Uncover dish and bake another 15-20 minutes or until bean mixture is hot and bubbling.

- Cover green beans with water in a large pot. Add ham, bouillon, paprika, and cayenne. Bring to a boil over high heat; reduce heat to low and let simmer until beans are tender, about 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool, 20 to 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Add flour and cook until almost brown, 3 to 5 minutes. Stir in diced onion; cook until it begins to brown, 7 to 8 minutes. Another veggie family favorite. This can be prepared ahead of time, refrigerated and baked when ready. This is really good with ham. Although I have only made this recipe using frozen beans, I imagine that you could make this using about 3 cans of French-style beans, just omit cooking the beans. Also the 2 cups half and half can be replaced with whole milk, just watch carefully not to scald the milk while cooking.
