GARLIC STEAK WITH MUSHROOMS AND ONION-ROASTED POTATOES RECIPE - (5/5)

Steps:
- 1.Combine in medium bowl, oil, garlic, steak seasoning, and salt. Cut steak into four portions; add to garlic mixture, turning to coat (wash hands). Let stand 10 minutes. 2.Preheat large sauté pan on medium-high 2-3 minutes. Place steaks and garlic mixture in pan; cook 5 minutes (do not turn). 3.Reduce heat to medium and turn steaks; cook 6-8 more minutes or until 145°F (for medium-rare). 4.Add butter, turning steaks to coat. Remove steaks and cover to keep warm. Add mushrooms to pan and cover; cook 5-7 minutes or until tender. Serve. 1.Preheat oven to 400°F. Combine all ingredients; spread in single layer on baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes. 2.Turn potatoes; bake 10 more minutes or until tender. Serve.

Simple and light. The roasted tomato gives a light and tangy flavor which balances with the starchiness of the potatoes. Use a red or yellow potato for best flavor. Garlic, fresh basil, and a hint of rosemary add to the aroma. My girlfriend loves this as a side with chicken or pork.

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- In the prepared baking dish, toss the potatoes, tomatoes, basil, and garlic with the olive oil. Sprinkle with the rosemary.

GARLIC AND ROSEMARY STEAK WITH POTATO-ONION CAKES
Steps:
- For steak:
- Combine first 5 ingredients in glass baking dish. Add steak and turn to coat. Season generously with pepper. Cover and refrigerate steak overnight, turning occasionally.
- For peppers and onions:
- Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté 4 minutes. Add peppers and sauté until beginning to soften, about 8 minutes. Add marjoram and dried red pepper. Season to taste with salt and pepper and stir 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
- Bring steak to room temperature. Preheat broiler 5 minutes. Remove steak from marinade; pat dry. Transfer marinade to heavy small saucepan. Broil steak to desired degree of doneness, about 10 minutes per side for rare (meat thermometer will register 125°F. for rare). Transfer to platter. Let stand 10 minutes
- Meanwhile, reheat bell peppers and onions in skillet. Bring marinade to boil.
- Thinly slice steak across grain. Arrange on platter. Surround with Potato-Onion Cakes, peppers and onions. Serve, passing marinade separately.

Steps:
- Put peeled and cut potatoes and onion in fry pan with 1/4 cup butter. Fry on medium low for 30 minute or until tender. Add additional butter if necessary during cooking.
- Fry steak in separate fry pan till done as desired.
- Put steak in with potatoes and onion and add garlic. Stir fry 10 minute on med. low.

I think I got this recipe off AOL several years ago and it's so good! Prep time includes marinating time and cook time is a guess since grill times may be different.

Steps:
- Mix the steak sauce, onion and brown sugar in a glass dish. Add steaks, coating well; marinate in fridge at least 30 minutes.
- Make mushrooms by combining all ingredients in an aluminum pan. Cover loosely with foil. Place on hot grill. Cover and grill 10 minutes. (Mushrooms can be placed in a 350º oven instead, baking for the directed amount of time). Stir mushrooms after 10 minutes and re-cover them, continuing to cook them for another 8-10 minutes.
- Remove steaks from marinade. Grill until steaks reach desired doneness.

- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
- Combine potatoes and onion in a roasting pan; cover with canola oil and olive oil. Add garlic, onion soup mix, rosemary, and black pepper and stir until potatoes and onion are evenly coated. Cover roasting pan with aluminum foil.

- Mix all the ingredients for the marinade to get a medium thick paste. Salt the steaks well, you can even tenderize them beforehand. Coat them on all sides with the marinade and leave them in a covered container in the refrigerator for several hours.
- Clean the mushrooms and sauté them briefly in a little preheated oil. Arrange the steaks in a large greased tray and add the mushrooms on top. Clean and rinse the potatoes well. Cut them into pieces, but not all the way, to keep them whole. Sprinkle each potato well with salt, black pepper . Arrange them in the tray as well.
- Pour a trickle of oil over them. On one side of the tray, fill up with the beer and gently shake. Add foil and put everything to bake in a heated to about 410°F (210 °C) oven. You can bake it without the foil near the end.
- Serve the steak with mushrooms and potatoes with a bit of fresh, diced onion and salad by choice.
