APPLE-CRANBERRY SAUCE
This is a simple apple-cranberry sauce. If you eat sugar, you will probably find this recipe way too tart, so adjust to taste. I make applesauce all the time. The great thing about making it from scratch is you can adjust the amount of sugar.

I found this recipe in a library cookbook several years ago when I made a big Thanksgiving feast for my family. I hate cranberry sauce but I love this. It was a big hit with my family too. And now they request that I make the Turkey. I've also used this on chicken and ham. Both came out delicious.

Cranberries, apple and a little brown sugar blend into a chunky accompaniment to ham. The not-too-sweet sauce gets its pretty pink color from cranberry juice. When cranberries are in season, I freeze some specifically for this down-home dinner. -Jena Coffey, Rock Hill, Missouri
