The recipe for a big batch of Manhattan cocktails for a crowd.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup bourbon
2/3 cup Noilly Prat Rouge vermouth
4 dashes Angostura bitters
4 orange twists
4 fresh cherries

Steps:

  • Combine 4 dashes Angostura bitters, 2/3 cup Noilly Prat Rouge vermouth, and 1 cup bourbon in an ice-filled pitcher and stir until well-chilled. Strain into 4 ice-filled rocks glasses. Garnish each drink with an orange twist wrapped around a fresh cherry.

The Manhattan cocktail is a classic drink starring whiskey and sweet vermouth, finished with a maraschino cherry and dash of bitters for complexity and depth.

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey
1 ounce sweet vermouth
2 dashes Angostura or orange bitters
Maraschino cherry for garnish

Steps:

  • In mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine whiskey, vermouth, and bitters. Stir well, about 20 seconds, then strain into cocktail glass. Garnish with cherry and serve.

Ice
2 parts whiskey
1 part sweet vermouth
1 to 2 dashes bitters, such as Angostura
Orange peel
Real Maraschino Cherries, recipe follows
1 cup maraschino liqueur
1 pint sour cherries, stemmed and pitted (in a pinch, you can buy a jar of sour cherries in light syrup, and drain the syrup)

Steps:

  • Place ice in a cocktail shaker. Add the whiskey, vermouth and bitters. Rub the orange peel around the rim of the cocktail glass. Strain the drink into the glass. Add 1 to 2 Real Maraschino Cherries and enjoy!
  • Bring the liqueur to a simmer, and then turn off the heat. Add the cherries, stir, let cool, and then pour into jars. Refrigerate. Cherries will be tasty for months.
