Super easy and tasty pork chops.

4 (1-inch thick) bone-in pork chops
¼ cup real maple syrup
¼ cup water
¼ cup chopped onion
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
½ teaspoon chili powder
salt and ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops in the preheated skillet until browned, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Arrange seared chops into a casserole dish.
  • Whisk maple syrup, water, onion, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, and pepper together in a bowl to dissolve the chili powder; pour over the pork chops.
  • Bake in preheated oven until the chops are no longer pink in the center, about 45 minutes.

5 eggs, separated
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1-1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate, grated
FROSTING:
1/4 cup butter, cubed
3 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup 2% milk
1/4 cup maple syrup
1-1/2 cups chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Let eggs stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In another bowl, whisk the egg yolks, maple syrup, water and maple flavoring. Add to dry ingredients; beat until well blended. In another bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into batter. Fold in pecans and chocolate., Gently spoon into an ungreased 10-in. tube pan. Cut through batter with a knife to remove air pockets. Bake on the lowest oven rack at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Immediately invert pan; cool completely, about 1 hour., Run a knife around side and center tube of pan. Remove cake to a serving plate. For frosting, in a microwave, melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Pour into a large bowl; beat in the confectioners' sugar, milk and maple syrup. Frost cake; press pecans onto the top and sides of cake.

4 pork loin chops, cut 1/2-inch thick (about 1-3/4 lb.)
salt & fresh ground pepper
2 tablespoons butter
12 baby carrots (with about 1/2 -3/4 inch of tops still attached, halved lengthwise, if using packaged "baby" carrots)
1 medium apple, sliced and seeds removed
1/4 cup pure maple syrup (or to taste)

Steps:

  • Sprinkle chops with salt and pepper.
  • In skillet melt butter over medium heat; add chops.
  • Brown for 2 minutes, turning once.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Add carrots, apple, and maple syrup.
  • Cover; simmer for 8 minutes or until desired doneness.
  • Using slotted spoon, transfer chops, carrots, and apples to platter.
  • Bring syrup mixture to boiling.
  • Boil gently, uncovered, 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • Pour over chops.

These squares are my husband's favorite. We get some real, pure maple syrup from back home in Ontario, Canada, and they are just to die for. Hope you enjoy as much as we do.

1 cup all-purpose flour
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup softened butter
1 egg
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
½ cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Combine the flour and 1/3 cup brown sugar in a mixer. Mix in the softened butter until a dough has formed. Press into an ungreased 8x8-inch baking dish, and prick with a fork.
  • Bake the shortbread in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 20 minutes. While the shortbread is baking, beat the egg in a mixing bowl along with 1/3 cup brown sugar, maple syrup, and pecans. Pour the pecan mixture over the hot crust, and return to the oven. Continue baking until firmed, 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, and immediately run a knife around the edges to prevent sticking. Cool completely, then cut into 1-inch squares to serve.
