2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1⁄2 teaspoons baking soda
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sugar
1 (20 ounce) can crushed pineapple
1⁄4 cup light molasses
2 eggs, beaten
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup walnuts, chopped
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Prehat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 x 2" baking pan. In large mixing bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the center. Drain pineapple, pressing out lliquid with a spoon. Reserve 1/3 Celsius syrup. Add syrup, crushed pineapple, molasses, eggs and softened butter to flour mixture. Beat with a large spoon until well mixed. Pour batter into prepared pan; spread with spatula. Sprinnkle with walnuts and brown sugar. Bake about 40-45 minutes or until done. Remove to a cooling rack. Cut into 12 squares; serve with whipped cream if desired. There is a note that states the cake tastes even better made the day before.

My mother-in-law makes the softest sugar cookies. And I hate to admit it, but they're the best I've ever had!

1 1/2 cups flour, sifted
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening or 1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon cream or 1 tablespoon milk

Steps:

  • Before making, consider doubling it, since we always do!
  • Cream the butter, then add sugar, egg, and cream.
  • Mix together the dry ingredients, then add to wet ingredients.
  • Chill thoroughly in fridge (usually an hour).
  • Roll out and cut into desired shape.
  • Cook at 400 degrees for 10 minute.

Sugar and hot mustard are the secret ingredients in this much-requested recipe for deviled eggs. Whenever my daughter-in-law throws a party, she is always asked, 'Are you having your mother-in-law's eggs?' Mothers-in-law are known to be sweet and devilish!

6 eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon spicy brown mustard (such as Gulden's®)
1 teaspoon hot mustard (such as Sweet Hot Mister Mustard®)
1 teaspoon white sugar
salt and pepper to taste
1 pinch paprika for garnish
6 pimento-stuffed green olives, cut in half

Steps:

  • Place the eggs into a saucepan in a single layer and fill with water to cover the eggs by 1 inch. Cover the saucepan and bring the water to a boil over high heat. Remove from the heat and let the eggs stand in the hot water for 15 minutes. Drain. Cool the eggs under cold running water. Peel once cold. Halve the eggs lengthwise and scoop the yolks into a bowl. Mash the yolks with a fork.
  • Stir the mayonnaise, spicy brown mustard, hot mustard, sugar, salt, and pepper into the yolks until well combined. Spoon into a quart-size, resealable plastic bag. Snip a corner off the plastic bag.
  • Squeeze the yolk mixture into the egg halves, sprinkle each stuffed egg with paprika, and top with an olive half.

-prepare dough using recipe above *
FILLING
-3-4 cans of crushed pineable and well drained
-1 cup of sugar
-4 tbsp cornstarch

Steps:

  • FOR FILLING -drain the pineable well and place in pot on stove. Add sugar and cornstarch stirring constantly. Filling should not be wet must be dry and sticky -remove from pot and let cool completely DOUGH -after dough has been prepared cut into crescents and fill with pineapple filling and role into crescents. -place on baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 325 degrees for 10-15 minutes
