Provided by Betty Crocker Kitchens

Categories     Entree

Time 4h30m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 fully cooked bone-in ham shank (12 lb)
1 tablespoon black peppercorns, coarsely crushed
30 whole cloves
1 can (12 oz) cola carbonated beverage
1/4 cup bourbon
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 jar (13 oz) cherry preserves

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly spray 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray. Remove skin from ham; trim fat to 1/4-inch thickness. Make shallow cuts in fat 1 inch apart in diamond pattern. Rub peppercorns over surface of ham; insert cloves in centers of diamonds.

In small bowl, mix 1 1/4 cups of the cola, 2 tablespoons of the bourbon and 1/4 cup of the brown sugar; pour over ham. Bake uncovered 2 hours, basting with pan drippings every 15 minutes.
  • In 1-quart saucepan, mix remaining 1/4 cup cola and remaining 2 tablespoons each bourbon and brown sugar. Add 2/3 cup of the preserves. Cook over medium heat 3 minutes or until glaze is hot and sugar is dissolved. Brush glaze over ham. Bake 1 hour 45 minutes longer or until thermometer reads 140°F. Transfer ham to serving platter; cover with foil. Let stand 30 minutes before carving.
  • Skim fat from drippings in pan. Stir remaining 1/2 cup preserves into drippings with whisk. Transfer mixture to a saucepan. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer 8 to 10 minutes or until thickened. Serve glaze with ham.

AMAZING BOURBON BALLS WITH CHERRIES

Amazing Bourbon Balls With Cherries image

I make these every year for my family. They are always gobbled up very quickly, so I make multiple batches. You can find the glazed cherries next to the fruitcake fruit. You can make them without nuts, too. Just increase the amount of cherries.

Provided by Blue Toile

Categories     Candy

Time 5h

Yield 3 dozen, 24-36 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/2 cup fine chopped walnuts
1/2 cup fine chopped red glazed cherries
1/2 cup Bourbon
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup margarine
1 lb confectioners' sugar
16 ounces semisweet chocolate
1 teaspoon paraffin wax
additional confectioners' sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Soak walnuts and cherries in bourbon for 4-5 hours. (The longer you soak them, the more they absorb the alcohol.) Drain well.
  • Soften butter. Mix butter with confectioners sugar and add to nuts and cherries. (You might need to add more sugar if the mixture is to wet.) Roll into balls (about half the size you wish your final bourbon ball to be). Refridgerate at least 30 minutes until set.
  • Melt chocolate and wax in double broiler. Drop balls into chocolate and put on wax paper. Let set until chocolate hardens. (I always put them in the fridge to speed up the process.).

CHOCOLATE CHERRY BOURBON BALLS

Chocolate Cherry Bourbon Balls image

This is kind of a cross between a cookie and a candy. My mom used to make these every year during the holidays when I was a kid, although times were different back then, and since this is no-bake, the alcohol doesn't have a chance to cook off. Yeah, don't give these to the kids! Servings are based on two of these per person... Good luck stopping at two!
