Sweet Dinner Rolls image

This dough makes wonderful dinner rolls but can also be used to make cinnamon rolls. Mixing it in your bread machine but bake the rolls in the oven. They're light, soft and sweet.

½ cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
½ cup warm milk
1 egg
⅓ cup butter, softened
⅓ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
¼ cup butter, softened

Steps:

  • Place water, milk, egg, 1/3 cup butter, sugar, salt, flour and yeast in the pan of the bread machine in the order recommended by the manufacturer. Select Dough/Knead and First Rise Cycle; press Start.
  • When cycle finishes, turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough in half. Roll each half into a 12 inch circle, spread 1/4 cup softened butter over entire round. Cut each circle into 8 wedges. Roll wedges starting at wide end; roll gently but tightly. Place point side down on ungreased cookie sheet. Cover with clean kitchen towel and put in a warm place, let rise 1 hour. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden.

This bread is very popular sale in any Asian supermarket, it is moist and delicious with coconut flavor!

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 cup water
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons dry milk
4 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons instant yeast
1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut
1 large egg, room temperature
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon dry milk
1/4-1/3 cup sugar
2/3 cup raisins
1/8 cup almonds

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in bread machine pan in the order recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Select the dough cycle and press start.
  • When cycle is finished, remove the dough, knead enough to punch down and divide it into 3 pieces.
  • Roll dough to 10x4 rectangle.
  • Combine first five filling ingredients and mix well,If coconut to dry add more egg.
  • Spread 1/4 coconut filling over rolled out dough with rubber spatula.
  • Sprinkle with 1/3 raisins.
  • Roll from long side, Roll up jellyroll-fashion and pinch edge together to seal.
  • Make a braid out of the 3 ropes leaving enough length on each end.
  • Brush egg on surface of dough (1 egg+ 1 tablespoon water).
  • Once spread coconut filling and sprinkle with almond.
  • preheat oven to 100*F and turn off.
  • Cover the dough with a piece of cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake at 350F for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Brush melted Butter.

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
2 cups warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk. Add the sugar, butter, salt and 3 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Add enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Turn onto a floured surface; divide into 16 pieces. Shape each into a ball. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes. , Bake at 350° until golden brown, 35-40 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks. Serve warm.

Knead the dough and let rest in the bowl, covered with a warm, wet towel in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.
  • Then prepare the filling: Mix the coconut, condensed milk, vanilla, and nutmeg together in a medium bowl. Reserve!
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to form a 15-inch rectangle, then brush most of the melted butter on top of the dough and spread the filling. Sprinkle brown sugar on top, distributing evenly. Roll up tightly like a cinnamon roll log and cut into 12 slices.
  • Grease and line with parchment paper a 13” x 9” rectangular baking pan. Arrange the coconut rolls into the pan in a single layer, keeping them about at least 1-inch apart. Brush the remaining melted butter on top of the rolls, and let rest at room temperature for 30 minutes as they will continue to rise.
