2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1 stick butter (melted)
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1 cup powdered sugar
12 oz Cool Whip frozen whipped topping (thawed, divided )
2 3 oz Jell-O Orange Jelly Powder

1/2 cup canned mandarin orange segments (drained)

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat in 2 cups of the whipped topping. Spread over cooled crust
  • Pour pudding mixture over cream cheese layer and spread evenly over top. Top with the remaining whipped topping by spoonfuls, and carefully spread until even.

BERRY DESSERT LASAGNA

Berry Dessert Lasagna image

Despite the fanciful name, this chilled trifle makes for an easy dessert with bright, crowd-pleasing flavors. Using frozen cakes makes them easier to slice into "noodles."

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     dessert

Time 6h30m

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 1/2 cups sugar
12 ounces fresh raspberries
1 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
Two 10.75-ounce frozen pound cakes
1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
12 ounces fresh blueberries

Steps:

  • Stir 1 cup sugar and 1/3 cup water together in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely, about 5 minutes. Add the sugar mixture and the raspberries to a blender and blend until completely smooth. Strain the raspberries through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl.
  • Beat the heavy cream with the vanilla and the remaining 1/2 cup sugar in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until stiff peaks form, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Place a pound cake on its side and slice lengthwise into 1/4-inch thick strips to make the lasagna "noodles." Repeat with the second pound cake. Place 2 pieces of cake side-by-side in the bottom of an 8-inch square baking dish. Pour 1/4 cup of the raspberry sauce over the cake and smooth out with a silicone spatula. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons coconut, dollop with 1/4 cup whipped cream and sprinkle with a third of the blueberries. Repeat this process 3 more times so you have a total of 4 layers. Chill for 6 hours and up to overnight. Slice and serve.

Time 2h5m

Yield 4-6 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 18

4 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp flour
2 1/2 cup heated milk
salt & pepper to taste
nutmeg to taste
3 Tbsp butter
1 cup minced onion
1/2 cup minced celery
1/4 cup minced carrots
1 cup minced smoked ham
1/2 lb each, ground beef & ground pork lightly browned in olive oil
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 cups chopped canned plum tomatoes
1 cup chicken stock
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 bay leaf
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
salt & pepper to taste

Steps:

  • First make the bechamel sauce. In a saucepan melt butter. Add flour, stir to combine and cook for 3 minutes. Then add the hot milk, and cook whisking occasionally for 3-5 minutes until thickened and lightly coating the back of a spoon. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and nutmeg and set aside. For the meat sauce, in a skillet melt butter. Add onions, carrots, celery and cook, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes. Then add the smoked ham and cook for another 5 minutes. Add ground beef and pork, and white wine, stir to combine and reduce 1 minute. Add plum tomatoes, chicken stock, tomato paste, bay leaf, oregano, salt & pepper to taste. Bring to a boil and simmer 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 350 F. Brush the bottom and sides of a 9x12x13-inch baking dish with butter. Spread a layer of the meat sauce evenly over the bottom of a baking dish. Then add 1 cup of the bechamel sauce-smoothing it over the meat sauce. Add 1/3 of the lasagne sheets. Continue with 3 more layers. Sprinkle top with parmesan cheese. Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling.

ITALIAN LASAGNA

Italian Lasagna image

This Italian Lasagna comes from the back of the Creamette lasagna noodle box from years gone by. I've been making this lasagna recipe for over 20 years!

Provided by Amanda Formaro

Categories     Dinner

Time 1h5m

Number Of Ingredients 18

1/2 pound lasagna noodles (OR 1 whole box Oven-Ready )
1 lb Italian sausage
1/2 lb ground beef
1 cup onion (chopped )
2 cloves garlic (minced)
28 ounces tomatoes (cut up (undrained))
12 ounces tomato paste
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoons fennel seed
1/4 teaspoons pepper
15 ounces ricotta cheese
1 large egg beaten
1 tablespoon parsley flakes (or 2 teaspoons fresh minced parsley)
1/2 teaspoons salt
4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated )

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 F.
  • In large skillet, combine Italian sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook until sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain. Stir in next 7 ingredients. Bring to boil. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes.
  • Fill a baking pan with hot tap water and place the uncooked noodles into the water. Set aside.
  • In medium bowl, blend ricotta, egg, parsley, and salt. Spoon 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce into 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Layer one-third each lasagna, meat sauce, ricotta mixture, Mozzarella cheese, and Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers two more times.
  • Cover with aluminum foil. Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes.
  • Uncover, bake until hot and bubbly, about 20 minutes longer.
  • If top is not browned enough, you can turn the temperature of the oven up to 500 F and baked for a few more minutes. Be sure to WATCH and check every couple of minutes as it will brown quickly!
  • Let stand 10 minutes before cutting.

WORLD'S BEST LASAGNA

World's Best Lasagna image

It takes a little work, but it is worth it.

Provided by John Chandler

Categories     World Cuisine Recipes     European     Italian

Time 3h15m

Yield 12

Number Of Ingredients 20

1 pound sweet Italian sausage
¾ pound lean ground beef
½ cup minced onion
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
2 (6.5 ounce) cans canned tomato sauce
½ cup water
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 ½ teaspoons dried basil leaves
½ teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 ½ teaspoons salt, divided, or to taste
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
4 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
12 lasagna noodles
16 ounces ricotta cheese
1 egg
¾ pound mozzarella cheese, sliced
¾ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • In a Dutch oven, cook sausage, ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until well browned. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Season with sugar, basil, fennel seeds, Italian seasoning, 1 teaspoon salt, pepper, and 2 tablespoons parsley. Simmer, covered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook lasagna noodles in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes. Drain noodles, and rinse with cold water. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg, remaining parsley, and 1/2 teaspoon salt.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • To assemble, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Arrange 6 noodles lengthwise over meat sauce. Spread with one half of the ricotta cheese mixture. Top with a third of mozzarella cheese slices. Spoon 1 1/2 cups meat sauce over mozzarella, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Cover with foil: to prevent sticking, either spray foil with cooking spray, or make sure the foil does not touch the cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove foil, and bake an additional 25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

CLASSIC LASAGNA

Classic Lasagna image

Make this classic lasagna recipe zestier by using hot Italian sausage or a little milder with regular Italian sausage. Don't be scared off by the long cooking time. The wait is well worth it. It's a great dish to make for a crowd and easy to adjust for varying tastes. The leftovers are even better when reheated the next day.

Provided by Barb R

Categories     World Cuisine Recipes     European     Italian

Time 2h

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 15

9 lasagna noodles
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 (16 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon dried basil
4 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1 (15 ounce) container ricotta cheese
3 eggs, beaten
⅓ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add the lasagna noodles and olive oil; cook until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
  • Cook the ground beef and sausage in a large pot over medium heat; drain. Stir in the mushrooms, garlic salt, oregano, thyme, basil, and tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper; simmer 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, mix together the ricotta cheese, eggs, and Parmesan cheese in a bowl.
  • Ladle enough of the meat sauce into a 9x13 inch baking dish to cover the bottom in a thin layer. Form a layer atop the sauce with 3 of the lasagna noodles. Spread about 1/4 of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles. Sprinkle about 1/3 of the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta cheese mixture and then ladle about 1/3 of the meat sauce over the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering twice more, topping with the remaining 1/4 pound of mozzarella cheese.
  • Bake in preheated oven 90 minutes. Allow to sit 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
