THE BEST BLOODY MARY
Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- In a highball glass filled with ice cubes, pour the vodka, tomato juice, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce.
- Add the hot sauce, celery salt, black pepper, and horseradish (if using).
- Stir well, or try rolling the drink . Taste and adjust the seasonings to your liking.
- Garnish with a lemon wedge, celery stalk, and/or pickle. Serve and enjoy.

Steps:
- For tomato water:
- In food processor, purée first six ingredients until smooth. Line sieve with cheesecloth and set sieve over nonreactive bowl. Pour purée into center of cheesecloth and refrigerate overnight. Gather sides of cheesecloth up over purée to form large sack and squeeze gently to extract last bits of water. Discard sack and its contents and transfer tomato water to bowl. Set strainer over bowl and squeeze in lime, lemon, and orange juice. Stir well. Makes about 20 ounces tomato water, enough for roughly 4 drinks.
- For Bloody Mary
- Fill 4 highball glasses with ice. In each, combine 4 ounces tomato water and 1 1/2 ounces vodka and stir. Garnish with cherry tomatoes.
BLOODY MARYS
The vodka can be omitted for virgin Marys.

- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add tomatoes and cook uncovered until peels start to break, about 10 seconds. Drain in a colander and immediately immerse in ice water for several minutes to stop the cooking process. Drain and slip skins off each tomato.
- Combine tomatoes, celery, and olives in a bowl; pour in enough vodka to completely cover. Marinate in the refrigerator, 8 hours to overnight. Strain and sprinkle celery salt over tomato mixture.

- Make the tomato vodka: Cut each of the tomatoes into 8 pieces and put them in a large glass jar. Add the vodka, stir to combine, and cover. Put in a cool, dark place for at least 5 days and up to 7 days, stirring every day. After 5 to 7 days, strain through a fine-mesh strainer and discard the solids. To store, pour the tomato vodka back into its original bottle and keep in a cool, dark place.
- Make the Bloody Marys: Put the cherry tomatoes, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and salt in a blender, cover and blend on high speed for 1 1/2 minutes. Fill an ice cube tray with about 2 cups of the juice and freeze overnight. Pour the remaining juice into a lidded container and reserve on the counter overnight. (Refrigeration will destroy these particular flavors and aromas.)
- Just before serving, put 3 frozen cubes in each of 4 Collins glasses and add 1 1/2 ounces tomato vodka to each glass. Stir the reserved juice, pour 4 ounces into each glass, and serve immediately.
