Also called 'burnt grapes', this recipe may sound different but once you try it, I guarantee you'll be making it again and again. Delicious!

2 cups sour cream
½ cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
5 cups green seedless grapes
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix together sour cream, confectioner's sugar and vanilla. Stir in grapes. Set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Stir constantly and cook over medium heat until mixture starts to thicken. It does not need to boil.
  • Pour brown sugar and butter over grape mixture and stir until well blended. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

  • Caramel Grapes These are like a mini caramel covered apple! I found some gigantic grapes at the store and remembered seeing this on Pinterest. My kids and I made them as a snack. I bought some caramel dip and heated it a little to make it easier to coat the grapes and then we rolled them in nut topping.

1/2 cup hazelnuts (2 ounces)
1/2 cup blanched almonds (2 ounces)
1/2 cup unsalted roasted cashews (2 ounces)
1/2 cup whole pecans (2 ounces)
1/2 cup whole walnuts (2 ounces)
Vegetable oil for greasing foil
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1 1/2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Toast hazelnuts in a shallow baking pan until fragrant and a shade darker, about 8 minutes.
  • When hazelnuts are cool enough to handle, wrap in a kitchen towel and rub to remove skins. (Not all skins will come off.) Transfer hazelnuts to a large bowl with almonds, cashews, pecans, and walnuts. Line baking pan with foil and lightly oil.
  • Bring sugar, water, and honey to a boil in a small saucepan over moderate heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Pour over nuts and stir until nuts are well coated. Transfer nuts with a slotted spoon to baking pan (discarding syrup) and roast in 1 layer in middle of oven, stirring and redistributing nuts occasionally, until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Lightly oil another sheet of foil and put on a work surface. Spread nuts in 1 layer on foil and cool completely. Break apart any nuts that are stuck together.

1 package white cake mix (regular size)
2 large eggs, room temperature
2/3 cup water
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup canola oil
TOPPING:
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup butter, melted
DRIZZLE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1 tablespoon water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Reserve 1 cup cake mix for topping. In a large bowl, combine eggs, water, flour, oil and remaining cake mix; beat on low speed 30 seconds. Beat on medium 2 minutes. Transfer to a greased 13x9-in. baking pan., In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, pecans and reserved cake mix; stir in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over batter. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 25-30 minutes. Mix confectioners' sugar, corn syrup and water until smooth; drizzle over cake. Serve warm.

A cousin passed this quick and easy recipe on to me. We make it every Christmas and include the caramels in gift baskets we share with family and friends.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 teaspoon plus 1/4 cup butter, divided
1 cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Melted chocolate, optional

Steps:

  • Line a 9-in. square baking pan with foil; grease foil with 1 teaspoon butter., In a large heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, milk and remaining butter. Cook and stir over medium heat until a candy thermometer reads 238° (soft-ball stage)., Using a pastry brush dipped in water, wash down the sides of the pan to eliminate sugar crystals. Cook and stir until thermometer reads 248° (firm-ball stage)., Remove from heat; stir in nuts and vanilla. Immediately pour into prepared pan (do not scrape saucepan). Let stand until firm., Using foil, lift candy out of pan; remove foil. Using a buttered knife, cut caramel into 1-in. squares. If desired, drizzle with chocolate. Let stand until set.

1 cup peanuts (crushed)
1 (8 ounce) container of melted caramels (Size depending on how many you are making.)

Steps:

  • First, wash grapes over sink, and make sure they're clean.
  • Next, after they're dried, put the toothpicks onto them one by one.
  • After that, grab the grapes by their toothpicks, and dip them into caramel one at a time.
  • Last, roll them in the crushed diced peanuts. (Make sure they don't fall off the toothpicks.).
  • For later: Grab a container with a plastic top, and put them, (AFTER DRIED) and put them in the fridge.
  • Right now: Make sure you enjoy them while they last, cause you'll be wanting more soon!
  • Note: If serving someone with a peanut allergy, substitue nuts with something else (ex. cereal).
