EASY CANNED BISCUIT DONUTS WITH VANILLA GLAZE

Easy Canned Biscuit Donuts with Vanilla Glaze image

These easy biscuit donuts are made with canned biscuit dough and fried to a perfect golden brown then dipped in a simple vanilla glaze. A great sweet breakfast treat for the whole family!

Provided by Amy

Categories     Breakfast

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 can pre-made biscuits (like Pillsbury Grand biscuits)
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon salt
oil for frying (vegetable, canola, or peanut oil)
rainbow sprinkles (optional)

Steps:

  • Place a wire cooling rack on a baking sheet and set to the side.
  • Pour your frying oil in a dutch oven and heat over medium heat. You will need about 3-4" depth of oil. Use a candy thermometer to ensure you bring the oil to 350F.
  • Using a round cookie or biscuit cutter, cut out the center of each biscuit. Then gently stretch the biscuit dough until your donut is about 1/2" wider.
  • Once the oil is hot, fry each donut for about 1 minute per side, until golden brown.
  • Use a strainer to carefully remove each fried donut from the oil and set on the cooling rack so the excess oil drips off.
  • Turn off the heat for the oil once all of the donuts have been fried, and allow the donuts to cool down completely.
  • While the biscuit donuts are cooling, sift the powdered sugar into a large bowl. Whisk in the milk, vanilla extract and salt.
  • Dip each cooled donut into the vanilla glaze, and then place back on the cooling rack. Immediately sprinkle the tops with rainbow sprinkles (optional).
  • Allow the biscuit donuts to sit until glaze is set, about 30 minutes.

BISCUIT DONUTS

Biscuit Donuts image

Make Easy Canned Biscuit Donuts Recipe with only 4 ingredients. Biscuit donuts are so light and fluffy while taking just minutes to prepare.

Provided by Desserts on a Dime

Categories     Dessert

Time 14m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 tube refrigerated biscuits (I used Pillsbury Original Grands Flaky Lakers 8 ct)
vegetable oil (enough to fill your saucepan about 2″ deep)
1/2 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Add sugar and cinnamon to a small bowl and mix well. Make sure the bowl is big enough to hold your donuts.
  • Add oil to a small saucepan. You'll need about 2″ of oil. Heat on medium heat until hot.
  • Meanwhile, use an apple corer to cut a hole into each of the biscuits. Drop biscuits into hot oil, one at a time, cooking for 1 minute on each side. This is essential. If you go by "looks" your donuts will probably be doughy/uncooked in the center. It seems like a minute is a long time and they tend to get pretty dark in the oil, but it's enough time to cook each side. Flip when 1 minute is up and continue to cook on the other side for 1 minute. Remove from oil carefully and place onto a plate lined with paper towels. Let set for another 2 minutes before dunking the hot donuts into the cinnamon sugar mixture. Coat all sides evenly.
  • Makes 8 donuts

SUGAR DONUTS FROM CANNED BISCUITS

Sugar Donuts from Canned Biscuits image

An easy and budget-friendly doughnut recipe kids (big and small) will love. Before there was a doughnut shop on every corner, this was a popular way to make doughnuts at home. It's simple and not time-consuming. Outside they're golden brown. Inside is soft and fluffy. We loved coating them in cinnamon sugar. But powdered sugar or a chocolate glaze would be delicious too. Serve these for brunch, a special breakfast, or just because it's Tuesday.
