Finger Licking Sesame Edamame image

Edamame is more commonly known as a soybean, harvested at the peak of ripening right before it reaches the "hardening" time. Edamame means "Beans on Branches" . A good source of protein. Enjoy as a snack squeezed directly from the well seasoned pods into the mouth with the fingers. Hence finger licking good!

1 lb frozen edamame, in the pod (3-4 cups)
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
1 teaspoon garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add edamame and continue boiling until beans are crisp-tender, about 6 minutes.
  • Meanwhile mix remaining ingredients together.
  • When done, run cold water over, or put in ice water, to stop cooking. Drain well; pat excess moisture off, and toss in the dressing.
  • Top with seeds.
  • To eat, hold pod by stem end, and slide the individual beans out with your teeth. Discard pod.

1 box Yellow cake MIX
1 can mandarin oranges, UNdrained
1 stick butter, melted
1/4 cup oil
4 eggs
1 can crushed pineapple, JUICE ONLY
(KEEP PINEAPPLE FOR THE FROSTING)
FROSTING:
12 oz Cool Whip, thawed
1 pkg 3.4 oz pistachio instant pudding
1 cup frozen unsweetened grated coconut, thawed
1 can crushed pineapple, DRAINED

Steps:

  • 350* 24-27 min CAKE: prepare cake pans Mix Add oranges Mix (Oranges should be broken up by the mixer.) Cool on wire racks 10 min Invert the warm cakes and poke holes with a shewer or toothpick POUR juice over warm cakes. Let sit while making Frosting FROSTING: Stir until pudding is dissolved Place cake right side up on serving plate and frost top and sides. Repeat. Can store one week in fridge

4 small round turnips, halved
2 carrots, cut into 4 chunks each
2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 large onions, chopped
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
salt
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 tablespoon fennel seed
2 tablespoons oil

Steps:

  • Put all the vegetables (EXCEPT CHOPPED BELL PEPPERS AND ONIONS) in a bowl with 1/2 cup water and microwave for 18 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, heat oil in a skillet (preferably cast iron) and add fennel seeds.
  • Add garlic and all the powdered spices alongwith salt.
  • Empty microwaved vegetables, green pepper and onions.
  • Saute on medium heat for 10 minutes turning the veggies gently.
  • Bet you will not have a speck left in the serving dish.
