ITALIAN SODAS

Italian Sodas image

Having an Italian themed dinner party? Play some Italian music, stick some candles in old wine bottles, and let your guests make their own Italian sodas. My kids really like these. I buy my Torani Syrup at a store called World Market - they have many flavors and even sugar-free types. The flavor combinations are endless. Under directions I've listed a few of our favorite flavor combinations. Also, Torani syrup is so versatile for other things; drizzle some on a dessert plate, over cheesecake, lace a bowl of ice cream, or mix with some whipping cream for a new flavor. Mix some strawberry flavor with lemonade. Ok, I'll stop now.

ALDO'S ITALIAN SODA COCKTAIL

Aldo's Italian Soda Cocktail image

Aldo's Italian Soda, served at Aldo's Sidewalk Cafe in San Juan Capistrano. I copied this interesting excerpt: Adding a fine spritz to a drink is a marvelous thing, a centuries-old practice. Today, however, mixologists and bar chefs no longer think in terms of committing a splash of club soda to a cocktail. Mere carbonation is passe, now it's about adding quality effervescence. A spritz helps achieve all-important balance between the various elements in a cocktail. It enhances a drink's mouth feel, and most importantly, effervescence energizes a libation, transforming it from flat and lifeless to teeming with vibrancy and pizzazz. One thing you can do to immediately improve your drink-making abilities is look beyond using carbonated water from the beverage gun. Artificially charged water created on-site can hardly compare to the natural effervescence of sparkling waters, source-derived products like San Pellegrino, Perrier, or Ramlosa. These famous waters have an abundance of fine bubbles and mild acidity that invigorates a cocktail. Club soda can't begin to measure up

Provided by gailanng

Categories     Beverages

Time 5m

Yield 1 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 ounce torani raspberry flavored syrup (other flavors good too)
8 ounces san pellegrino sparkling water (can sub Perrier or Ramlosa)
ice
half-and-half, to float on top

Steps:

  • Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour over the ice the raspberry syrup then sparkling water. Carefully add half-and-half to top off.

17 FAMOUS ITALIAN COCKTAILS - INSANELY GOOD RECIPES

From insanelygoodrecipes.com

Category Beverages, Recipe Roundup
  • Classic Aperol Spritz. This gorgeous golden-orange drink is bubbly, refreshing, and somewhat bitter. If you’re looking for a lovely cocktail that isn’t so sweet that it gives you a toothache, this is an excellent option.
  • Easy Bellini. If you’re looking for something a bit sweeter to enjoy, try the classic bellini, made with only three ingredients (prosecco, frozen sliced peaches, and peach juice) and fresh peaches for a garnish.
  • Classic Negroni. For those of us who enjoy a slightly bitter cocktail with just a hint of sweetness, the three-ingredient, 5-minute negroni is a perfect choice.
  • Italian Spritz. If bubbly, refreshing, and tart are more your style, try the Italian spritz instead. You’ll combine prosecco and Aperol (or Campari) with a couple of slices of lemon and ice.
  • Italian Paloma Cocktail. Although Palomas are more closely associated with Mexico, the Italian Paloma is nothing to sneeze at, as my grandpa would’ve said.
  • Americano Cocktail. As you’ve probably already noticed, Italian drinks are often bitter, and the Americano cocktail is no exception. It’s an old-school drink, and the recipe hasn’t changed much through the years.
  • Limoncello Lemon Drop. This light yellow drink is basically very tart lemonade with a robust and vodka-infused flavor. It’s tasty and refreshing all year long, but it’s ideal for the warmer months of the year when the days are long, and the heat seems endless.
  • Rossini Cocktail. Unlike many of the drinks on this list, this vibrant, candy-colored cocktail is incredibly sweet. It’s like a sweetened bellini made with strawberries instead of peaches.
  • Hugo Cocktail. Hugo cocktails are similar to mojitos, but they’re not as strong. Instead of rum, you’ll use prosecco or sparkling white wine. (Doing so lightens the alcohol taste, as well.)
  • Puccini Cocktail. Puccini cocktails are the ideal mixture of sweet and tangy, and like most cocktails on this list, they’re super simple to make. All you’ll need is your favorite citrus fruit (mandarin oranges, clementines, or tangerines are best), Mandarine Napoleon liqueur, and prosecco.
