Gloriously Green Spinach Hummus image

Classic hummus goes deliciously green with a few handfuls of spinach thrown into the mix.

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 15-ounce can chickpeas (garbanzo beans) drained, but reserve the liquid
2 cups baby spinach leaves
1/3 cup tahini
3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
2 medium garlic cloves (minced)
1/2 teaspoon salt (plus more to taste)
1/2 teaspoon cumin (optional)
Olive oil and paprika for topping (if desired.)

Steps:

  • Add everything but the liquid from the chickpeas to the pitcher of a blender or food processor. Pulse, adding the bean liquid as needed to get things moving, until the hummus is completely smooth.
  • Taste and add additional salt if desired.
  • Scoop into a serving dish and drizzle with olive oil and paprika if desired.

1 cup Spinach
1/2 cup Kabuli Chana (White Chickpeas) , soaked overnight and cooked
2 tablespoon Tahini
5 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves
4 cloves Garlic
1 tablespoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
2 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 Lemon juice
1 teaspoon Salt

Steps:

  • To begin making the Spinach Hummus Recipe we will boil the soaked chickpeas with enough water in a pressure cooker for about 30 minutes. Till it is cooked is soft.
  • In a mixer add all the ingredients and blitz till you get a creamy and not too smooth consistency.
  • Once done, check for salt and serve it in a bowl.
  • Serve the Spinach Hummus Recipe can be had along with pita bread, tortilla chips for a healthy start.

2 cups cooked chickpeas (or canned)
2 1/2 cups raw spinach
1 1/2 heads roasted garlic (** or 2 cloves garlic, minced)
1/2 cup tahini
&frac 14 cup olive oil (a little more to thin, if needed)
1 tablespoon seasoning (ground cumin paprika, or sumac, or to taste, plus a sprinkling for garnish)
1 pinch salt, & pepper
1 lemon, juice of

Steps:

  • Put the chickpeas in a food processor & pulse 5-10 times.
  • Add the the rest of the ingredients.
  • Purée for one or two minutes, adding cooking liquid or olive oil (a tablespoon at a time) until the mixture is to your desired smoothness.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning (I often find I like to add much more lemon juice).
  • Serve, drizzled with the olive oil and sprinkled with a bit more cumin, paprika, sumac, parsley, pine nuts, or sliced black olives.
  • Refrigerate for up to a couple days or freeze for months.
