These scones are so quick and simple. They only have three ingredients and produce deliciously light scones. The bubbles in the lemon soda make them rise. There is no need to rub butter as in the traditional scone recipe. Serve hot with whipped cream and berry jam.

3 cups self-rising flour
1 cup lemon-flavored soda
1 cup heavy cream

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray; lightly dust with flour.
  • Sift self-rising flour into a large bowl. Combine lemon soda and cream and pour over the flour. Mix until dough is just combined. Turn dough out onto the prepared baking sheet. Flour your hands and gently pat dough into a large rectangle. Do not overwork the dough. Cut into triangles or squares.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden, 10 to 12 minutes.

140 gram All-Purpose Flour
100 gram Gouda
125 gram Sour Cream
1 pinch Salt

Steps:

  • Grate the Gouda (100 gram) and add it to a bowl with All-Purpose Flour (140 gram), Sour Cream (125 gram), and Salt (1 pinch).
  • Knead all of the ingredients into a dough.
  • Dust a clean surface with flour. Roll the pastry to a 1/2-inch (1cm) thick sheet. Cut the dough into circles using a round cutting mold or a small glass (1-inch or 2.5cm diameter).
  • Place the circles on the Philips double layer accessory and repeat the previous step with any leftover dough.
  • Place the cheese scones into the basket leaving some space near the edges for the double layer accessory. No extra space is needed between the scones as they will only rise upwards during baking.
  • Place the double layer accessory into the basket and then in the Airfryer. Start the device at 400 degrees F (200 degrees C) for 12 minutes.
  • Bake the scones until golden. Serve warm.

Indulge in some cheese scones for afternoon tea or as part of a picnic. They're also great served alongside soups and you can freeze them for later use

225g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
pinch of salt
pinch of cayenne pepper
1 tsp baking powder
55g chilled butter, cut into cubes
120g mature cheddar, grated
90-100ml milk, plus 1 tbsp for glazing

Steps:

  • Heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6 with a large baking tray inside. Sift the flour, salt, cayenne pepper and baking powder into a bowl, then sift again to make sure the ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  • Add the butter to the bowl and combine with your fingertips to make breadcrumbs. Sprinkle 100g of the cheese into the breadcrumb mixture and rub together until evenly distributed. Try not to mix too much as the heat from your hands may start to melt the butter.
  • Make a well in the centre of the mixture and pour in enough milk to give a fairly soft but firm dough. Do not pour in all the milk at once as you may not need it all to get the right consistency.
  • Lightly flour a surface and roll out the dough to approximately 2cm thick. Cut out the scones with a medium (about 8cm) cutter, then put on a sheet of baking parchment, glaze with a little milk and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Slide onto the hot oven tray.
  • Bake in the oven for 15-20 mins or until golden brown and cooked through.

2 tablespoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
½ cup canola oil
⅓ cup milk
2 large eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda together in a bowl. Fold in Cheddar cheese.
  • Whisk sour cream, oil, milk, and eggs together in a small bowl. Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients; stir just until moistened.
  • Knead dough on a lightly floured surface 10 to 12 times. Pat out to a thickness of 3/4 inch. Cut into 3-inch squares or cut circles with a 3-inch cutter. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until light golden brown, about 15 minutes.
