1 c. shredded romaine
1 c. Sliced tomatoes
2 tbsp. finely chopped chives

Steps:

  • Tightly wrap each hot dog with bacon.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook hot dogs, turning frequently with tons, until bacon is crispy and cooked through, 12 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, spread mayonnaise onto each hot dog bun, then layer in romaine and tomatoes. Top with bacon-wrapped hot dog and sprinkle with chives before serving.

1 small tomato, seeded and chopped
4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
3 tablespoons diced dill pickles
1 tablespoon mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sour cream
4 hot dogs
4 hot dog buns
2 lettuce leaves, thinly sliced, or as desired
1 green onion top, thinly sliced, or as desired

Steps:

  • Mix tomato, bacon, pickles, mayonnaise, and sour cream together in a bowl; cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for flavors to blend, about 4 hours.
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook hot dogs until warmed through, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain.
  • Place a hot dog in each bun and top each with tomato-bacon mixture. Garnish each with lettuce and green onion.

One night I was watching "Throwdown With Bobby Flay" and he was challenging "Pink's" which is a hot dog stand in Hollywood Ca. I was inspired to make my own "gourmet" hot dog. Loving BLT's as much as I do, this recipe is the end result of that inspiration. Now this will make 8 servings if you have side dishes,or 4 servings with 2 "dogs" each. For sides I would suggest your favorite recipes for baked beans, slaw, or potato salad. Submitted to "Zaar" on May 20th,2007.

1 (16 ounce) package jumbo hot dogs (8 dogs in package)
10 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
8 hot dog buns, split (toasted optional)
8 teaspoons mayonnaise, divided
1 cup tomatoes, diced
iceberg lettuce, shredded

Steps:

  • Cook hot dogs your way; broiled, fried, or grilled.
  • On each split plain or toasted bun, spread one teaspoon mayonnaise (can use more if desired).
  • Add desired amount of lettuce, place dog in middle.
  • Sprinkle a little diced tomato and bacon on each side of dog.
  • Eat and enjoy!

4 slices thick cut bacon (recommended: Oscar Mayer)
4 hearty beef franks (recommended: Ball Park)
1 white onion, sliced in rings
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
Hot Dog buns
Sauerkraut (recommended: Claussen)
Nacho rings (recommended: Embassa)
Sweet relish (recommended: Vlasic)
Yellow mustard
Ketchup

Steps:

  • Set up grill for direct cooking over medium heat. Oil grate when ready to start cooking.
  • Cook bacon slices in a microwave oven for about 1 minute, or pan fry until the edges begin to curl but the bacon is still flexible. Drain well.
  • Wrap each frank in a slice of bacon, securing the ends with toothpicks; set aside.
  • Toss onion slices with olive oil. Grill bacon-wrapped franks and onion slices on hot oiled grill, for 4 to 5 minutes per side (16 to 20 minutes total). Turn onions everytime you turn franks.
  • Serve hot on toasted buns with lots of condiments.
  • INDOOR: Prepare dogs as directed. Preheat broiler. Place dogs on wire rack over foil-lined baking sheet or broiler pan. Place under broiler 4 to 6 inches from heat source and cook 3 to 4 minutes per side or until bacon is crispy.

SUNNY'S EASY BLT HOT DOG

6 strips bacon
1 teaspoon BBQ or steak seasoning
1/2 teaspoon sugar
4 beef hot dogs with natural casing
4 hot dog buns, steamed and split
1 Roma tomato, thinly sliced
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
1/2 cup shredded and chopped iceberg lettuce

Steps:

  • In a cold pan, add the bacon strips. Turn the heat to medium high and cook, flipping once, until crisp, about 8 minutes. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate and immediately sprinkle with the steak seasoning and sugar. When cool enough to handle, chop the bacon, but not to bits!
  • Meanwhile, preheat a grill to medium high. Cook the hot dogs on all sides until slightly charred, about 6 minutes.
  • Line the insides of each bun with slices of tomato (they should stick out slightly) and rest the hot dogs on top. Add the mayonnaise and use it to "glue" the lettuce and bacon on top.

This recipe is from Kraft's website. The recipe orginally was supposed to use Kraft's Cheese dogs but you can use whatever type of hot dog you'd like. The amount of ranch dressing is an estimate. I always buy a bottle and use more. I even have been known to throw in some cucumber every now and then.

12 bacon strips, cooked and drained

Steps:

  • Preheat waffle maker. Whisk together first five ingredients. In another bowl, whisk egg yolks, milk and butter. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Stir in cheese., In a separate bowl, beat egg whites until stiff but not dry. Fold into batter. Drop 1 heaping tablespoon of batter in the center of each waffle iron quadrant; bake according to manufacturer's directions until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
