CHRISTMAS TREE CHEESE BALL

Christmas Tree Cheese Ball image

Provided by Ree Drummond : Food Network

Categories     appetizer

Time 45m

Yield 8 to 10 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

8 ounces cream cheese
8 ounces sharp Cheddar
1/4 teaspoon cayenne
2 to 3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3 scallions, sliced
Juice of 1/2 lemon
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup very finely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
2 tablespoons pomegranate seeds
Buttery crackers, such as Ritz, for serving

Steps:

  • Add the cream cheese, Cheddar, cayenne, Worcestershire, scallions, lemon juice and some salt and pepper to the bowl of a food processor. Pulse until the mixture is almost smooth; you still want a few bits of cheese in there. Remove with a rubber spatula to a piece of plastic wrap and wrap up the cheese mixture. Place in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  • Shape the cheese mixture with your hands into a Christmas tree/cone using the plastic wrap to keep it together. Mix the chopped parsley and dill together on a plate or work surface. Coat the shaped cheese in the chopped herbs.
  • Transfer the cheese tree to the center of a platter. Decorate with the pomegranate seeds as ornaments. Serve with buttery crackers.

RIDICULOUSLY MOIST CHRISTMAS CAKE BALLS (CAKE POPS WITHOUT STICKS)

Ridiculously Moist Christmas Cake Balls (Cake Pops Without Sticks) image

These cake balls are my most requested sweet treat I make around Christmas time. They can be made any time of year using any colored sprinkles!

Provided by Aleka Shunk

Categories     Dessert

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 8

16.5 oz Betty Crocker Super Moist YELLOW Cake Mix (This brand is the BEST!)
Water (According to cake mix)
Eggs (According to cake mix)
2 tablespoons Butter (Not the entire amount*)
10 oz Cream Cheese Frosting (The best you can find!)
12 oz Candy Melts or Chocolate Chips (White or Milk/Dark)
¼ cup Sprinkles of Choice
*EZ Thin (*Optional but recommended!)

Steps:

  • Bake cake mix according to instructions using just 2 tablespoons of butter. (Too much butter/oil will cause it took seep out of your cake balls later.)
  • Allow cake to cool and break up cake using your hands.Tip: To make it easier and give you super smooth cake balls, puree cake in a food processor!Add cake crumbs to a large bowl along with your cream cheese icing and mix well. Your hands work best for this.
  • Use a mini ice cream scoop to scoop cake into uniform size balls. Roll balls between the palms of your hands until smooth and round. Place cake balls on parchment paper on a flat baking sheet or dish and place in the fridge for 20-30 minutes to harden.*Don't stack them without parchment paper or they will stick to each other.
  • In the meantime, melt your chocolate/candy melts in the microwave in 30 second intervals mixing in between until thin and smooth. Use a mini crock pot if you have to make it easier. Now is when you want to add in your EZ Thin if using.*Make sure not to overheat or your chocolate will scorch!
  • Using a toothpick, poke one ball and dip it into the chocolate so it is fully coated. Dip on an angle so the cake ball does not fall off the skewer. While holding the cake ball UPRIGHT, swirl and tap the toothpick gently against the side of the bowl to allow excess chocolate to drip off for 10-20 seconds.Use another toothpick to help release the cake ball onto parchment paper and then use the toothpick to "patch up the hole" with a bit more chocolate.
  • While your chocolate is still wet, add sprinkles. Repeat with remaining cake balls.
  • Allow your cake balls about an hour to cool and then store in a sealed container for about a week.

CHRISTMAS TREE CAKE

Christmas Tree Cake image

At the root of this pretty pine-shaped confection is a sweet secret you won't be able to keep to yourself. In fact, as soon as the cake is cut, it'll come spilling out...in the shape of tasty candies you use to fill the center! To create it, our crafty kitchen crew took a cue from Bonnie, who shared the treat-filled holiday dessert she annually makes for her family's festive Christmas celebration. The CT crew simply speeded up Bonnie's idea by using a store-bought cake mix as the foundation. Then they followed her instructions for cutting and stacking layers of baked cake to create a hole in the center for stashing candy. Gumdrops fill this version, but you can add whatever sweets your group likes best.

Provided by Taste of Home

Categories     Desserts

Time 55m

Yield 12 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 package white cake mix (regular size)
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
3 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped
3 to 4 cups assorted candies (gumdrops, peanut M&M's, gum balls, Lifesavers, chocolate stars)
Foil star (2 inches)
12 red cake candles (2-1/2 inches), optional
Green colored sugar and fruit-flavored decorating candies, optional

Steps:

  • Prepare cake according to package directions. Divide batter between one 9-in. and one 8-in. greased and floured round baking pans. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely. , For frosting, fold the confectioners' sugar into the whipped cream; set aside., Place 9-in. cake on a 10-in. serving plate or covered board. With a sharp knife, cut a 5-1/2-in. circle from the center of the cake. Remove 5-1/2-in. circle and set aside. Frost top of 9-in. ring and fill center with candy. , Cut a 3-1/2-in. circle from the center of the 8-in. cake; remove 3-1/2-in. circle and set aside. Place 8-in. ring over 9-in. ring. Frost top and fill center with candy., Cut a 1-3/4-in. circle from the center of the reserved 5-1/2-in. circle. Remove 1-3/4-in. circle and set aside. Place 5-1/2-in. ring over 8-in. ring. Frost top and fill center with candy. Place reserved 3-1/2-in. circle over 5-1/2-in. ring; frost top. Place reserved 1-3/4-in. circle over 5-1/2-in. ring., Frost top, mounding slightly to make a pointed top. Frost sides of the cake, mounding frosting at base of layers and gradually connecting layers to resemble a Christmas tree. Place star on top of cake. Sprinkle with green sugar if desired.
