This takes awhile and is a labor of love but oh so worth it. These are the kind of cookie i look forward to every Christmas. YUM! (i can't remember how many this makes, so the servings are a guesstimate, as are the cooking times!)

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 -2 cup walnuts or 1 -2 cup almonds, very finely chopped
powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Beat together butter and 1 cup powdered sugar until thouroughly mixed.
  • add vanilla and almond extracts.
  • stir in flour, salt, and nuts.
  • Roll into balls.
  • Bake at 350 until done but NOT brown. (sorry, i don't know the exact time!).
  • Roll in powdered sugar while hot.
  • Roll again when cold.

1-1/2 cups instant hot cocoa mix
1 jar (8 ounces) powdered French Vanilla nondairy creamer
1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup instant coffee granules
EACH SERVING:
1 cup hot water
Sweetened whipped cream and baking cocoa

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 months., Yield: 16 servings (4 cups total)., To prepare cappuccino: Place 1/4 cup mix in a coffee mug. Add 1 cup hot water; stir until combined. Top with whipped cream; sprinkle with baking cocoa.

2 large tea bags for iced tea
1/2 cup boiling water
8 fresh mint sprigs
4 cups lemonade made from frozen concentrate
1/2 cup vodka
Ice cubes
8 lemon slices

Steps:

  • Place tea bags in medium bowl. Add 1/2 cup boiling water. Let steep 4 minutes. Discard tea bags. Place mint sprigs in large pitcher; mash with muddler or handle of wooden spoon until slightly bruised. Pour in tea, lemonade, and vodka. DO AHEAD: Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover and chill.
  • Fill 8 highball glasses with ice. Divide sweet tea among glasses. Garnish with lemon slices.

1 ½ pounds ground lean beef
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
4 cubes beef bouillon
2 medium carrots, shredded
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons white vinegar
½ cup white sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
2 quarts water, divided
3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 head cabbage, cored and cut into wedges

Steps:

  • Crumble the ground beef into a large pot. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef bouillon cubes, carrots, onion, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper. Pour in 1 quart of water, and bring to a boil. Stir to break up the beef while heating. Once the soup comes to a boil, cover and simmer for 30 minutes over low heat.
  • Pour in another quart of water, and return to a slow boil. Add garlic and cabbage. Simmer for 25 minutes, until cabbage is tender. Ladle into soup bowls to serve.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Line 12 muffin cups with paper liners.
  • Cream unsalted butter in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until soft and creamy. Gradually beat in sugar, about 1/3 cup at a time, beating until the mixture is fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs, beating well after each egg; mix in flour and green tea powder until thoroughly combined.
  • Spoon batter into the prepared muffin cups, filling them about 3/4 full.

  • In a large bowl, stir together the sugar and oil. Beat in the eggs until light, then stir in the honey and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and allspice; stir into the batter just until moistened. Fold in the apples and nuts. Transfer batter to prepared pan or pans (see Cook's Note).
  • Bake Bundt cake until a toothpick inserted into the crown comes out clean, about one hour. (Start checking for doneness after 50 minutes.)
