My sisters and I copied this recipe from our dear Mom who passed away in 2001....anyway it is very popular and my youngest sister brings it to all our family gatherings. Now the next generation is requesting the recipe so I thought I would post it. Enjoy :)

6 slices bacon
3 medium onions, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 cup cooked ham, diced
2 (10 ounce) cans tomato soup
2 (19 ounce) cans pork & beans
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt & pepper
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Fry bacon until crisp; drain & remove from pan; crumble.
  • Saute onions, green peppers in bacon grease.
  • Combine remaining ingredients in 2 quart casserole and bake at 350 for 40 minutes, uncovered.
  • Or use your crock pot and cook on low 6-8 hours.

Green beans in a chili sauce with onions, brown sugar, etc. I've made this for years and my family loves it. It has a really different taste to it.

4 thick slices bacon
½ cup chopped onion
4 (14.5 ounce) cans green beans, drained
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
¾ cup chili sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Remove bacon from skillet, leaving grease. Crumble and set aside.
  • Stir onion into bacon grease, and cook over medium heat until tender; drain.
  • In a medium baking dish, mix bacon, onion, green beans, brown sugar, dry mustard and chili sauce.
  • Bake 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until heated through.

1 lb ground beef
1 lb bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup bottled barbecue sauce
1/4 cup mustard
1/4 cup molasses
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground pepper
2 (16 ounce) cans small pink beans, rinsed & drained (Goya)
2 (16 ounce) cans white beans, rinsed & drained
2 (16 ounce) cans pork & beans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • In ovenproof kettle, cook beef, bacon, and onion over moderate heat, stirring to break up lumps for about 20 minutes or until beef is no longer pink & bacon is slightly crisp. Transfer to a large strainer to drain the grease & then return to the kettle. Add ketchup, barbecue sauce, mustard, molasses, chili powder, & six cans of beans. Stir until well combined.
  • Note: you can modify the types beans to your liking. I don't use kidney beans myself; however you can add them in place of the pink ones. Can't really go wrong with whatever kind you chose!
  • Bake mixture, covered, in middle of oven for at least an hour. Serves about 20 as a side dish.

1 medium onion, chopped
1/2 pound sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 can (28 ounces) baked beans
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) cut wax beans, drained
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) cut green beans, drained
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons cider vinegar

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in bacon and beans. Transfer to a greased 2-1/2-qt. baking dish., In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, ketchup, honey and vinegar. Pour over the bean mixture. Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 45-50 minutes or until heated through and bubbly. Let stand for 10 minutes; stir before serving.

This is my mother-in-law's recipe; she is the queen of canned cooking! This recipe may sound yucky, but it's really quick and yummy. My kids love this and it is easy for beginning cooks. Delicious served with cornbread and a garden salad.

1 pound ground beef chuck
1 small onion, minced
1 (16 ounce) can lima beans, drained
1 (10.75 ounce) can tomato soup
¼ cup brown sugar, or to taste
3 slices bacon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Cook and stir ground beef chuck and onion in a large skillet over medium high heat until meat is crumbly and cooked through, 5 to 10 minutes. Drain fat.
  • Stir lima beans, tomato soup, and brown sugar into beef mixture and mix well. Pour mixture into a baking dish and top with bacon strips.
  • Bake in preheated oven until bacon is crisp, 20 to 30 minutes.

2-1/2 cups dried great northern beans (about 1 pound)
1 pound sliced bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons molasses
3 small onions, chopped
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Sort beans and rinse with cold water. Place beans in a large saucepan; add water to cover by 2 in. Bring to a boil; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; cover and let stand for 1 to 4 hours or until beans are softened. Drain and rinse beans, discarding liquid., Return beans to pan. Cover with fresh water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until beans are tender. , Drain, reserving liquid. Combine beans, 1 cup liquid and remaining ingredients in a greased 2-1/2-qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350° for 1-1/4 hours or until beans are tender, stirring occasionally (add additional reserved liquid if needed).

2 cups cooked chicken breasts, diced
1 cup medium chunky salsa or 1 cup hot chunky salsa
1 1/2 cups grated monterey jack cheese or 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese
6 flour tortillas

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine cooked beans, diced chicken, salsa and cheese.
  • Divide mixture between 6 tortillas, placing mixture on the bottom half of the tortilla. Begin to roll, tucking in the sides as you go.
  • Place seam side down on a non-stick cookie sheet.
  • Bake in a preheated 400° F (200°C) oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  • Serve with a dollop of sour cream if desired. For spicier tortillas, add finely chopped jalapeños, minced garlic or green onions.

1 (15 ounce) can baked beans, drained
1/2 cup spaghetti sauce
1 small onion, diced

4 -6 frankfurters, sliced

Steps:

  • Mix beans, spaghetti sauce, onion and sliced frankfurters in ungreased 1 1/2 qt.baking dish.
  • Top with cheese.
  • Bake uncovered for 30 minutes in a 350 degree oven until mixture is bubbly.

  • Add green beans, peas, both beans and pasta.
